Dr. Alcorn concentrates on primary eyecare with an emphasis on routine vision exams and contact lens exams along with diagnosis and treatment of eye disease including glaucoma, cataract treatment and the pre- and post-operative care of patients having Lasik vision correction.
At Bloom Optical we specialize in children eye exams and eyewear. Bloom Optical is a participant in the "See To Learn" program through the Eye Care Council. Three-year-old children receive free eye assessments at Bloom Optical. Early detection of vision problems is particularly important for primary and intermediate school children learning to read and write, as the development of the vision system is essentially complete by the age of nine. A child who cannot see is at a learning disadvantage.
Facilities and Equipment
At Bloom Optical we use state of the art instruments, from the computerized scanners of corneal curvature for contact lenses to the latest in glaucoma testing, including automated Humphrey visual fields and eye pressure measurements with Goldmann and iCare Tonometry. We take pride in our follow-up care, and have invested heavily in digital imaging systems for more accurately follow chronic conditions such as glaucoma and macular degeneration.

Insurance Plans
We participate with VSP, Medicare, Medicare Advantage Plans, Aetna , Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Midlands Choice, United Healthcare & and Coventry Healthcare. We also accept vision plans, such as, EyeMed Vision, Vision Service Plan (VSP), Optum Healthcare, Vision Benefits of America (VBA) and Humana Vision Care (VCP). Check with our staff if you have other types of coverage.
